I'm over the moon!! What do you think of my latest acquisition? It's a gift from my good friend and colleague Azah and what a true friend she is who dearly knows my heart's desire and passion for thimbles.. She bought this for me plus some other souvenirs ( fridge magnet being one of them) while holidaying in Australia. Though it was last year, yet I still feel the same rush of excitement whenever I took a peek at my latest thimbles. They are so cute!!
P/s : Only for decoration purposes as they are too heavy to use as thimbles! lol..
By the way, did I tell you that my sis in law has a vast collection of thimbles? You should see hers!
I tried to relieve her of one but to no avail! Haha.

My Round Robin has finally come home!!!

This RR makes me want to update my blog instantly! I took part in this RR organized by Malaysian Stitchers Yahoo Group. This is my first RR and I don't regret joining though there were many glitches here and there.. It was suppose to be a year long RR but it came to 2 years! Yes, I got it back after nearly 2 years but I don't mind cos it sure looks stunning. The picture was taken with my handphone . Didn;t know my handphone took such clear and lovely pictures. LOL.. Okay, ogle all you can but it's mine! yup MINE!!! LOL.

BTW would love to see how the other RRs turn out..

I haven't been updating my blog for quite a while and friends are asking me what I've been up to. It's a combination of year-end workload and just plain laziness! I just have no mood to even pick up the needle! No reading nor visiting blogs either. Don't know what came over me! I have to apologize to Sandra for not getting the pictures up on my blog immediately after receiving it though I have done so on the HOE board.

I have never before had anyone from Barbados as my partner and I'm thrilled to receive such a sweet package from Sandra. She stitched for me a very gorgeous "P is for pincushion" pincushion. Isn't it lovely???This is one of my "to stitch" project but never got around to stitch it.. Now that I've got this, I can scrap this project off of my list.. lol.. Sandra also included a timble from my wish list and this is my second, the first one from my friend Frances. I hope to build a collection of timbles from all over the world *hint* hint*.. I love the pretty mirror, postcard and pins too! thank you so much Sandra for all the goodies!

Yoohoo.... another floss tag for my collection! I am jumping with joy for this cute little floss ring that Lillie sent me. I was dead tired coming back from work and this gift cheered and lifted me me up. Of all the Aury animals quaker freebies, I love this one the most. I have a soft spot for anything sheepish and eweish ( are there such words???) LOL..

Motifs & Ciseaux Scissors Pocket

Let me share with you my lastest finish. I had it all stitched up & tassles and all last night but my camera was out of battery and so had to leave it until today to post. My connection is really back and it took me ages to upload these pictures!! Argghh.. As you all have guessed, I am in a scissors pocket roll besides the floss tag roll. LOL... ( my 4th since the first one that I stitched for an exchange with Aniza ). It's getting easier and easier to assemble ;)). I really love how it turned out except for the cotton fabric. I had in mind a maroon fabric but couldn't find any in my stash, so I had to settle for pink??? { grin } Stitched on 32ct white linen with DMC variegated 75..I was thinking of using variegated 115 but finally set my mind on 75 as the colour is a little lighter that 115. The original design is a tad larger and I downsized it to fit my 4" scissors.

Rose pin pillow and WIP

The Olympics Games is here and how spectacular the opening ceremony was! I finally made a decision to switch my astro fun channel to Sports a day before.It usually takes 24 hours for it to take effect but the lady was so nice and promised to switch it as soon as possible ( It only took 4 hours). It seems that they have so many requests asking for a change of channel.. Two thumbs up to her! ;))

I have seen many projects by talented stitchers on these specialty stitches and I told myself that I will try these out one day. So, while watching the olympics, I stitched this on pink check hardanger. I didn't even realized I have this in my stash. I must have got this many years ago and put them somewhere under those piles of fabric! LOL.. I actually made a blunder of it as you can see that it's not centralized! LOL.. I don't know what these specialty stitches are called ( must look them up ;) but I think one is the spider web roses? LOL. Whatever ! Anyway, I find this very very interesting to stitch. Design is by Atalie.

In the pink scissors pouchette

Well, I had a hard time deciding what to do with this design. You see, this was the wip that I did not finished when Yuko sent me this exact design finished into a pinkeep. I love how hers turned out because she uses the recommended 32 ct linen and threads whereas mine is stitched on 28 ct linen with converted dmc colours. The threads didn't cover the fabric well and I did not have the mood to finish it. LOL.. I had it put aside and only recently thought about finishing it. So what better way to finish it than into a scissors pouchette. This way, the bareness of the design is not so noticeable. Also I already have the pinkeep and I think this compliments it very well..

Some new finishes

My sis-n-law invited me over for a stitching meet up and last Tuesday I went down to Alor Setar. We had a fruitful 2 days and managed to get some finishings done. I had 3 finishes whereas Lee Fun had 2. Since the day she got me the eyelet puncher, I couldn't wait to use it and so when the opportunity arose, I gathered some of my stitching ( which I couldn't finish due to lack of finishings - beads, ribbons etc..) and went over. We shopped for some fabrics for my pinkeep and found a very matching japanese cotton.I love doing the floss tag and i guess it must be the joy of using a new toy! LOL. I'm still using the old big ring as I had forgotten about getting some smaller ones.Nevermind, I will shop for that later ;))

Besides the floss tag, I also finished a pinkeep and a scissors keeper. The greenich gold pinheads and ribbons are from her stash. Actually, we made the pins using tacking pins and pearl plus beads as we couldn't find any nice one here. It was my first try at doing the pins and I'm quite thrilled how it turned out. By the way, the design is a freebie from an italian site which is no longer available. You can see more pictures here

HOE Freebie Exchange to Nela

My Hoe exchange to Nela in Venezuela finally reached her after more than a month. This is the second time it has taken so long. I was about to stitch a replacement like ( like the previous one ) when Nela emailed that she has received it at last. Phew! what a relief! I was about to be put off of exchanges but I couldn't resist seeing so many lovely and gorgeous exchange pieces on the HOE blog. LOL. I hope this time around, my PS exchange will get to my partner on time. So I must make sure to send it maybe a few weeks earlier?? Ok, here's a picture of the piece that I sent to Nela. Two Carnations is a freebie design by PS. This was in my 'to do' list for God knows how many years and I'm glad that this exchange gave me the opportunity to stitch it for Nela. As you can see, I don't have nice ribbons or pins, just the normal ones but I'll shop for better ones the next time I go to a bigger town. Nela, glad that you like it.

A new finish

This is the companion piece to the pink biscornu from Periphaeria Designs. I like that the design and the size suit a pouchette. Oma left a comment on the pink biscornu ( thanks Oma ;)) ) suggesting that I should add more stitches in the middle and so there it is, another clover. I use DMC flower thread to stitch it. This one fits a small 4" scissors. I love doing the finishing and I am thinking of making another one for my next exchange, hopefully I can still maintain the interest till then.. lol..

By the way, thank you to all of you for posting your comments here. I truly appreciate your thoughts and comments..Even though I don't post that many comments , please know that I do visit your blogs. I am sharing the computer with my son and I always have to fight with him for it ( LOL ) as he is online most of the time..

Also, I am very, very worried that my HOE Freebie exchange has not reached my partner yet. I had a very bad experience when the SBEBB LHN exchange that I sent to Carol took soooo long to reach her, that is after the 2nd one reached her first.. It's been more than a month already.. Though I registered it, I don't know if Pos Malaysia can do anything about it. I did asked the post master here, and he said to wait a little longer before filing a claim .I don't want to claim, I just want my exchange to reach my partner:(( I think I'll start stitching a replacement.. Don't know if this is a sign that I shouldn't join any more exchanges? Well, too late, I have just signed up for a PS exchange on HOE. I hope I'll have better luck this time around.

My new toy

Yooo hooo .. It's here, it's here... it's not floss, it's not linen, it's an eyelet puncher that I have been searching high and low for.!!! hehehe..Actually it's still with my sis-in-law .. Almost every blog I visited has floss rings and floss rings... I made one but without the eyelet.... not like a real floss rings.. lol.. I saw one on Lillie's blog. She has recently got one and how I envy her... Lillie offered to help me buy one but because of the weight ( postage might be expensive ), I decided to ask my sis-in-law to scout for one at her local stationery shop.. She was as excited as I was cos she is suppose to go next week but ended up going there today!!! It was very much cheaper that I expected..also the last one in the store.. I have a pattern in mind already and will be stitching it up tonight..hehehe... appreaciate and luv ya sis..

2 mini hearts

I've been admiring some of those thread rings/keepers ( is this the correct term??) on some stitchers blogs and am real excited about making one. First I had to find some small teeny weeny designs that are not too intricate but quick to finish as I find that my attention/interest span is rather short nowadays! One, I have finished into a thread keeper, the other a scissors fob. The scissors fob is not the easiest to sew as it's rather small and to take the inside out sweats me out! But the result really pleased me to bits! Not the pattern though as it;s quite plain but overall, for a first timer at making a thread keeper, I'm quite satisfied. By the way, the ring is unusually large so a trip to the local needlework store this weekend for some smaller rings is on the agenda ;))

Pink biscornu and blue heart pinkeep

My two finishes over the weekend.

The pink biscornu is a design by Peripheria, stitched with pink overdyes. I had intended to finish it into a pouchette but unfornately miscalculated the size and so turned it into a biscornu instead!

The second, a blue heart pinkeep. If you had noticed from my earlier posting, this is an old piece but I haven't got around to finishing it. My first time attempting a pocket for the back of the pinkeep with some lace I bought recently.

HOE freebie exchange from Jennifer in Oklahoma

I received the most gorgeous biscornu from Jennifer Wilder in OK today!! She stitched not one but both sides and both are so elegant with lots of gold beads. This is a Chatelaine freebie called Martina Roses. I have always wanted to stitch this and this is like a dream come true! LOL..She also added green tassles and this is my first biscornu with tassles. I absolutely love it! The pictures taken are not very clear and doesn't show the true colour of the beads.. In real, it's very, very outstanding! I jumped for joy when I saw it and couldn't take my eyes off it.. Jennifer, thank you so much for this stunning piece. I know you have put in a lot of effort ( very neat work ) and time in making this exchange for me. Also thank you for the extras - CCN's Summer Strawberries and the silk and overdyes which I love to bits! May God Bless You.

Final Round RR : My house on Margaret's neighbourhood

I've been putting this off for the umpteen times but managed to finish the last round last night. Phew! What a relief! No more RR for me. LOL. There are still 2 more stitchers to stitch on Margaret's RR and I'll be sending this to Zarina later this week.

Let me start on what I have stitched for Margaret. Since there's this narrow space on the left, I decided to make full use of it with 2 designs from CCN - Summer Garden and Rose Cottage. I particularly like the white fence from Summer Garden with all those lovely pink and blue flowers, birds, bee , not to mention the cat and a misplaced rabbit! LOL. The threads used are a combo of DMC solid and variegated colours and some overdyes. Margaret, how do you like my house and garden on your neighbourhood? Hope you like it ;))

SBEBB Spring Quaker Exchange

First, many apologies for not putting up the pictures of the quaker exchange that Hazel sent to me.. I was so caught up with work . I also forgot to snap a picture of the quaker that I sent out to Karen in Australia but I managed to copy it from her album;))

I stitched a quaker post for Karen and included some local overdyes , a small made in Malaysia songket purse and some laces. I hope she likes them;))

Hazel sent me a very sweet and huggable quaker pillow filled with scented herbs. I love the colours! She also included some gorgeous hand dyed Dragon Floss ,Polstitches hand dyed threads and Anchor variation..... They are such beautiful colours and I already have some patterns in mind to use with these threads.. Included in her package is also an LHN chart from my wishlist and a postcard of the Peak District in UK. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this exchange though at one time I was almost behind schedule in sending this out. Thanks you very much Hazel for a beautiful exchange.

What a wonderful surprise from Joei in Singapore

The postman came knocking with a most pleasant surprise in the shape of a package!!! I was wondering who it might be from as I have no more exchanges coming my way. Then I saw Joei's name and deep inside, I knew that she must have sent it to thank me for the batting that I sent her a couple of weeks ago. She mentioned how expensive it is over there in Singapore and since it's quite reasonably priced here, I sent a meter of it over to Joei. At first I thought that she might be sending me a card and I never knew that she took the effort to stitch me the lovelist biscornu ever!! I have always admire her Atalie biscornus on her blog and wanted to stitch one too. I'm glad I don't have to stitch it now as it came already stitched. LOL.. I love those rose buttons ( must ask her where she got those hehe ) and the spider webs and I have to say that hers is very lovely and perfectly stitched. I must get my needle and thread ready and start learning how to stitch these spider webs.LOL. By the way, this biscornu came in a lovely pink box ( love the box too!) . Joei, you don't really have to sent anything in return as I'm happy and excited to help you. Nevertheless, I'm very pleased and over the moon to receive this from you plus 2 lovely pieces of cotton fabbies, green and blue. I just love cottons and I use them sparingly as they are very expensive over here. Thank you so much Joei for the perfect gift and also for your friendship. I will always treasure them and remember you as my great stitching friend not forgetting those that I have made over the years. lol...

My prize for the 12 Mini challenge

Prizes and gifts do come in tiny weeny shapes! First, I wasn't expecting this in the mail but it came at the right time when I was brooding over the lost of my mattress pincushion.. Margaret offered a prize for the person who finished the 12th mini challenge first and I am happy to be the lucky recipient. I received a most lovely redwork pillow and a very unique tape measurement. The picture doesn't do it justice as the flash is too bright, I think. Thank you, Margaret for a gorgeous prize!

The second mini pillow was stitch by my friend Zai. I met her 2 years ago when we went for the National Level Teacher's Day Convention in KL. I knew her through Azah, my colleague and we clicked immediately.We have such great chemistry! With her, I can really talk and talk. LOL. The 3 of us had a great time shopping and "makan-makan". LOL. She came over the other day and saw my collection of smalls. I was surprised when she told me that she also stitches but not seriously into it. So when she came again, she brought me this little sweet mini oval pillow with lace and I was moved by her thoughtfulness. Thank you Zai. Both you and Margaret have made my day!

The one that got lost

Here's some pictures of the 1st exchange that couldn't find the way to Carol's house. LOL.. Hopefully it will make a detour as I really hope that Carol will get this. At least I'm glad I remembered to take a picture of it with the rest of my other mattress pincushions before I sent it off.

SBEBB Specific Designer Exchange for Carol

At last! My replacement finally reached Carol and I'm glad that she loves it and I love stitching this for her.I have been to her blog and you MUST too.. LOL. She really have very nice designs stitched up. Her work is very neat too. I also envy all her smalls esp her fobs and her pinkeeps.

Actually she was willing to wait for the first one to reach her but I thought that she has waited long enough and decided to stitched up a replacement as soon as possible as I will be having quite a heavy workload this year. Through her emails, I find that she is very warm, funny and kind and I truly like her a lot. When I read her blog, I also found out that she is a very generous stitcher as well ;))

Unfortunately the first one that I stitched for her got lost in the mail ;(( and I made sure that I sent the second one registered. I didn't expect Carol to receive it so fast as I only sent it on the 3rd. I fell in love with the watermelon and bluebird pattern so much that I couldn't wait to stitch it for Carol. I made it into a mattress pincushion , as usual {{{LOL}}} as I am still very much into it..

Cross Stitcher's Lottery Entry

I signed up recently for the Cross Stitcher's Lottery organized by Becky and this is my entry for the lottery - a biscornu. It's stitched on 28 ct antique white cashel linen with DMC variation 4050. I hope that whoever wins the lottery will like it as much as I enjoy stitching it.

This is how the lottery works. I quote from Becky's site.

I have been wanting to post this exchange the day I got it several weeks ago but was reluctant to as my exchange to my partner has not reached her yet. It's been more than a month since I last sent it to her and I have given up hope of it ever reaching its destination. :(( If it's really lost in the mail, then this will be my first. I never use registered cos it's just too expensive but I will in future.

Well, My partner Melissa sent me this beautiful pinkeep with a christmas theme . She also include some cotton fabbies and sticky notes all with the same theme. Thank you Melissa. I love all of them!

5th Round RR : My house on Lillie's neighbourhood

Well, what do you all think of this house? Does it looks familiar? ha ha. It's actually Geranium's House by CCN. I've changed some of the colour codes. Instead of the white house and fence , it's blue! I had wanted it to be a white house but then it wouldn't go well with the white/cream linen. I was quite satisfied with it until my daughter commented that my house would look better in a town neighbourhood than a country one which is Lillie's theme . I was like " oh dear, Lillie is going to be mad at me!!!.. I totally forgot about her notes that came with it about her wanting an english cottage neighbourhood. I will not post picture of the whole piece as Zarina has yet to stitch on it and this will go to her tomorrow. I'm consoling myself that this looks like an english cottage in my eyes. Anyway, I hope my house doesn't look too out of place in the neighbourhood.

My exchange for Yuko

Now that Yuko has received my exchange, I can now post some pictures here. I don't know what got into me lately as I'm quite lazy to write and post nowadays. I have been watching those old black and white Alfred Hitchcock Presents series and I'm now into Season 2. I really love these classic series and there's always a twist at the end of each episode. I just found out that he has adpated a few of Roald Dahl ( one of my favourite authors) short stories ; Lamb to the Slaughter ( a great piece! ), Poison and Man from the South to name a few.

Alright back to the exchange . I've always find it difficult to choose a pattern to stitch in whatever exchange I am in.. I think I took longer to find the right pattern that to stitch it. I finally settled for an ED pattern. Through email , we talked about what we would like to stitch for each other . Yuko wanted so much to have a mattress pincushion and I am only too happy to oblige her. I don't really mind what I'll get as I know that whatever she stitches for me will be as beautiful as those posted on her blog. I was not wrong. You can see the beautiful pinkeep and needleminder that she stitched for me.

Besides the ED mattress pincushion, I also stitched a tiny scissors fob by Au Fil Des Reves. I also included some goodies. I'm glad that she loves what I have put together for her. It's fun stitching these!

My Great Exchange with Yuko!

My! I was so excited as never before! When Yuko emailed to let me know that she has posted my exchange by express mail I never thought that it would get here that fast! I received it a few days ago but didn't want to share just yet as I am still reeling from the excitement! I'm that selfish , huh! Now I can post the exchange that Yuko sent me plus all the lovely goodies for all to see :))

Yes, I did leave it to Yuko to stitch anything for me and she really did a good job of making a pinkeep and a needle minder for me. It's sooooo verrrry beautiful and her finishing is great! I'm sure all her exchange partners can vouch for it. She is very thoughtful as she knows that I love EEF designs very much. I love the maroon velvet ribbons and the pearls and rose pins that she made herself. I didn't know that she did them herself until I read about it in her blog. You must agree with me that she's very creative. The other piece, a needle minder is kinda of cute and unique. I didn't know that there's a magnet inside the piece . Just put my pins and voila and they won't get lost again! I later read on her blog that she used a tin cover to make the needle minder.. Very ingenious of her!

It's so thoughtful of her to include a sheep lavender sachet to put under my bed as she is concerned that I might not sleep well due to my daughter's poor health duirng her exams recently.

I love the ED designs, the 2 pieces of cotton fabbies ( I love cottons! ) 4 lovely pink buttons, lots of japanese green tea, a christmas postcard and a card with the most beautiful handwriting. It's as if it's printed.. Thank you so much Yuko for such a great exchange.. I am hoping that my exchange will reach her soon . I sent by registered mail so I'm not worried about it not arriving only that it'll take a little longer I think. I hope the wait will be worth it..

In fact I am a little in awe of Yuko's stitching. It's so neat compared to mine . Anyway, I hope she will like them ....You really made me smile!

It's so great to be able a write something on my blog today! LOL.. I haven't been really blogging the past month due to my busy work schedule and also preparation for my daughter's SPM examinations. To make matter worst, she fell sick on her second day of the exams with bouts of vomitting and diarrhoea. She seemed well the next day but on the 3rd day, she threw up again..She had me so worried for her as this week is really packed with papers. Add Maths, Physics, Chemistry etc..Fortunately the pills that the doctor gave was very effective.. I think it's about the "wind" in her stomach? LOL..
Then this morning she told me that she has rashes and itchness after waking up but she didn't tell me in case I got worried. Does she suffers from stress? The doctor said so but I doubt it cos she is very confident and not one to panic. I guess I am more anxious that her.. LOL. Anyway I pray and hope that it will be smooth sailing for her for the next couple of days.

On another note, thank you to Yuko and Lelia for awarding me the "You made me smile award".. so I will be forwarding to 10 others who had made me smile but I'm afraid I can't do it right now as I have to get a few things settled ( one of them, my son's admission to college). I will do it in the next couple of days. Lelia and Yuko, both of you are on the list!!! hehehe. Ok here it is in no particular order of preference.

A mattress pincushion it is!!

Halfway through, I decided to stitch this for my daughter and asked her how she wanted this finished and automatically she replied " a mattress pincushion!" hahaha. I have my initial "YY" and her initial "NB" stitched onto it.. Aniza has suggested that I do the pull thread version but unfortunately I have yet to learn how to do that and also the hemstitch then. It took me days browsing the web looking for a tutorial and finally I found it right under my eyes! LOL. I have the link on my blog on finishing tutorials and when I checked out the site, I found a mattress pincushion tutorial done in the style of pull thread. Marie has provided very detailed and precised not to mention easy to follow guide on how to do it. Thank you Marie. Started this 2 days ago but it's taking longer than usual. A very simple freebie design by Midsummer Night and rather easy to stitch. I'm stitching it on 32 ct linen with dip and twist overdyes and handdyed spun silk perle. I have no idea yet what to finish this into ;) Any ideas?

Guess what? I cannot get enough of this mattress pincushion! LOL.. My daughter keep teasing me that these mattress pincushion can replace my real mattress! Well, this LHN small house sampler is one of my 12 mini challenge and have been sitting idle in my drawer for the past few months. I have been thinking about it for so long and have absolutely no idea what to finish this into. So I thought, why not make it into a mattress pincushion while I am still in the mood for it? You see, I tend to do certain things excessively and i don't know if this is a good trait. LOL. I don't quite like to do backstitching and I was tempted to just join it without doing them but then it won't be as neat. So, I started the backstitches, put it off and then started on it again until at last, I finished it. Phew! what a relief, it was! So far I have done 4 mattress pincushion, 3 for myself and one for an exchange.Will I do a fifth one? Your guess is as good as mine! hehehe. By the way, I love my mattress pincushion to distraction! LOL

Kayona, I have to back stitch all the sides of the stitched piece, backing fabric and gusset and then joined them like you would attach a biscornu. Quite easy but very time consuming. By the way, you can check out the tutorial on mattress pincushion here : vero's mattress pincushion

ED mattress pincushion

It was a relief when I heard from my partner that she has received the mattress pincushion that I sent last week. I can now upload the picture here. It's a design by Elizabeth Designs, stitched on 28 ct linen with DMC threads. I know my partner is a fan of ED and I searched high and low for this pattern which I think is just perfect for a mattress pincushion :)) I took 2 days to stitch this in between my work and when it was time to post it, I was a little sad to let it go but I'm glad it went to a good home. I'm always very anxious to hear from my partner in whatever exchange I took part in . One, because I'm worried that it might get lost in the mail and also that she might not like what I have stitched for her... I'm happy that she loves it and I love stitching it too!

Haven't been stitching much lately except for my sampler gameboard . So last night, I took out my summer house freebie which Danielle has kindly sent me. Thanks Danni. I'm stitching it on 32 ct tan linen ( the pattern calls for darker natural count linen ) with dmc and overdyes as I don't have the suggested Crescent Colours. I have no idea yet what to finish it into but knowing my fondness for mattress pincushion at the moment, I "might" make it into one or until I find another style of finishing.

Edit : Yippeee... finally finished it today.. It's very easy and enjoyable stitching this.. No frogging this time :)) By the way, still thinking of what to finish this into.

Patchwork Scissors keeper

I have a few scissors that I keep in their plastic cases as I don't have much time to stitch the pockets/keepers for them. After taking them out today, I decided to stitch a scissors keeper for one of my scissors. I wanted to finish it fast and so decided to stitch my alphabet. This is quite easy and took me less than 30 minutes to stitch it. However it was another thing adjusting the stitched piece to the patchwork but once I got it fixed, it was smooth sailing after that.

I would like to think that this is progressing well but unfortunately it's not. I am suppose to cover more squares but I spent very little time on this during the weekend. Instead I was stitching for an exchange which has been delayed long enough! I'm going to send it out today if the weather permits. We have had rather strong wind lately and I can practically hear it howling. I guess it 's the effect from the recent minor tsunami in Indonesia.

I am doing the happy dance as I have finished my 12th Mini Challenge! Since stitching my first mattress pincushion , I am in the mood for another one and I couldn’t resist stitching this. I stitched it on 28 ct ivory cashel linen. By the way it's a freebie by Mary Garry Sewing Cabin. I saw Aniza stitched this for her mailart to Zalita and I decided to finish mine into a mattress pincushion. I love Mary Garry's designs and the size of this freebie is just nice for it. I had wanted to do another kind of mattress with piping but unfortunately could not find the feed for sewing the piping. I will try to go into town this weekend to look for it and hopefully by next week should be able to do the finishing I want to :))

So I decided to make one today. Pattern is from Isabelle Vaultier Les Sampler En Rouge et Blanc and stitched on 28 ct taupe cashel linen. It was fun stitching the pattern but the backstitches were a little tedious.

I did made quite a good progress on this sampler as I have been stitching it almost everyday. I find stitching this very therapeutic but I'm afraid soon I won't have much time to stitch what with the students' exams just around the corner and the preparation towards it . I am mostly tired after coming back from work and I just want to lie down and sleep forever but there are so many things that need my attention, namely my stitching. LOL. I do try to stitch in between my housework and surfing though.

This came in the mail last Friday. Aniza emailed to ask if I have receive her package as it has been a week since she sent it by pos laju ( not so laju after all). LOL. Now off to show my goodies. I received the most gorgeous pouchette and needleroll! Aniza has stitched a matching ED Dragonfly pattern to the biscornu that I got a couple of years back. See how good her memory is? Actually we planned this exchange between the two of us last year when I got back into stitching.. I did stitched my part and finished it many months ago but it somehow slipped my mind that I have to send it to her and so I kept it with me all this while. I have grown quite attached to my pouchette as it's my first but a promise is a promise and so it will go out in the mail tomorrow. ( I think you can guess which one it is LOL.) The other one is a needleroll which i have been wanting to learn to do but till now have not the time nor the patience to do it. I still have not learnt how to do the pull threads thing where the ribbons go through it. I must make it a point to sit down and study the tutorial one of these days.

Thank you Niza for such wonderful and gorgeous accessories. I forgot to mention that she sent some lavender seeds too. I love them all!!!

I received this simple yet elegant mailart from Tuula 2 days ago and have been admiring the linen band ever since. It makes a nice and sturdier envelope which I like. the lady on the front and my initial is stitched over one. Tuula included some lovely postcards of Tornio and one on the town she lives in.. This is the progress of my Sampler gameboard.. I love stitching this as I can see the finished result of each square. I was counting the squares and I think there are about 100 ? If I could stitch one square per day, that means I'll finish the sampler in 3 months, that is if I stitch it everyday. So I'm going to start a schedule on this and stick to it no matter what. OK, one square per day :))

I received Zarina's RR from Zalita yesterday and will have to stop working on my Gameboard sampler to concentrate on this. This was suppose to reach me last week by pos laju but somehow it was kept in the post office for a week until Zalita called them up to check on the package. All of the participants did a great job on Ina's RR and now I have a hard time looking for the right garden pattern. LOL. I have found one at night and it's quite large but I will try to adapt to fit the empty space left. I've got to finish this fast as school will reopen in another day and I'll be back to my busy schedule.

This is what it looks like after 2 hours of stitching.. I didn't have belfast in natural or tan colour and so dyed the white fabric in a solution of 8 teabags. LOL.I think the colour turned out rather well. I kept counting left and right as I go through with my stitching as I didn't want to make any mistakes. I hate to frog! BTW, love the colours especially the cute house!

P/S I'm going to start on my token after this and farmer's alphabet " N" for my daughter.

My daughter saw this in a magazine and asked if I could stitch it for her and I said why not make this my 7th mini challenge? So I started stitching last night and finished sewing it today. It was a joy stitching it as it's quite easy and i didn't make any mistake at all :)) The lavender scented beads - which has been sitting in my drawer for months - came in handy. Picked this up again a few days ago and it is coming along nicely but boy, do I get bored easily! Seems that I have so many designs to stitch but so little time to do it. Phew! I have finally finished stitching on Zalita's RR . I MUST remember to send it to Zarina and not to Zalita. LOL ... I will post the picture here later tonight ( most used words!). On another note, my yellow mandevilla has bloomed big yellow flowers. I have been waiting for months for it to flower . Acutally, I'm not sure if it's called mandevilla as I couldn't find it's name on the net but it looks like the mandevilla vine only that mine is hardier. It's not easy to find this plant here and nobody seems to know what it's called. I have another red one but the flowers are smaller but beautiful nonetheless. I will take some pictures and maybe someone could help me with the name. Now back to marking my exams papers!

Now that Lillie has received my mailart , I can post some pics here. The design taken from PS Summer Breeze actually has a lamb but since Lillie hinted that she loves swan, I substituted the lamb with the swan. I do like both the swan and the lamb and this pattern is suppose to be my WIP but I haven't got time to finish a big one so I stitched a small one instead for Lillie's MA. Lillie, it was a joy stitching this and I've never felt so happy when I finally posted it to you. In fact I checked the MA board daily to see if you have received it and like it.... and I'm glad you do!

Edit : If you look carefully, You will notice that I've stitched Lillie's name on the grass. LOL.

I fell in love with this cat the minute I saw it. Unfortunately it's not mine. It was suppose to be a stray cat but my friend took it home with her. She named her Cik Ah meaning merah ( red ) since she's a little pinkish in colour LOL.. Since some of my stitching friends love cats so much esp Index, I'm dedicating this cat to them.. I started stitching this 2 days ago. This one is for myself and I'm sitching another one (different pattern ) for an exchange. BTW this is a freebie pattern from a french site but I can't remember the name. I'm very poor at bookmarking sites. I lost them all the time! LOL. I'm trying to stitch it as fast as I can as I won't have much time on my hand this school holidays as I've to mark my students' exams papers and also to edit my school blueprint and then to the printer and all that. This year has been really hectic and I don't wish to go through it again next year.
BTW I'm going to finish it into a pochette ciseax ( sp??). At first I wanted to stitch only the inner pattern as I wanted a smaller pochette for my small scissors and then found out that the inner pattern is a tad too small. On the other hand the whole pattern is too large for my mini scissors and so I compromised and stitch small squares all around the inner pattern. I hope I can do the finishing right as I've read that it's not easy to get a nice fold especially the sharp end. Wish me luck!

It's so difficult taking a picture of this as it didn't really show the true colours of it.I don't know if the variation colour thread that I use is suitable but I think it would have look better with solid colour. I'm going to finish it into either a pinkeep or a needlebook but I like pinkeep better. :))
Edit : I think I'm going to stitch another one using shell pink and see how it turns out.

I started on this last night after finishing my Primitive MA ( which I've sent out to my partner ). It's a R & P heart pattern and the suggested colour key is DMC 221- shell pink but since I have been stitching in red lately, I decided to switch to DMC variation. Let's see how it looks like once I finish it... soon I hope!

A wonderful Surprise! Etui

What a suprise what I went to the post office to mail out my Primitive mailart ( will post pics when my partner has received it ). The postman handed to me a plain looking parcel and I was wondering who it might be from since I have received all my exchanges. When I opened it, VOILA! it contains the most gorgeous Blue Etui that I have ever seen. It's so neatly and beautifully made.It was made for me by Dania, my stitching buddy for Mother's Day and Teacher's Day. I like the way she sewed the elastic pockets and the pumpkin pincushion not to mention the lovely jigsaw fabric. I'm so touch by her thoughts and generosity. Thank you so much Dania. I appreciate your gift very much and will treasure it till my dying days! I am truly blessed!

Pinkeep Exchange

On the same day that I received the MDSE, I got this pinkeep from Aw.It's so gorgeous that it caught my breath away! It was stitched in the loveliest colour of blueish purple. I love these 2 colours as purple is my daughter's favouite colour and blue is my son's favourite. She stitched on both side and and edged it with white lace-like trimming. It's my first ever pinkeep and I'm filled with joy.Thank you Aw. You have made my day too!

I received the most amazing Mother' Day Stash Exchange 2 days ago from Noreen. She has made for me a pink box with some very nice stitching especially the vase of flowers on the cover of the box and the heart pattern on the inside cover of the box. It's really gorgeous not to mention the beadstitch of my name. She included lots of goodies, laces, battery-operated scisors, ribbons, buttons, charms, tin, laced tissue cover, threads etc. There are so many goodies that I was overwhelmed by her kindness and thoughtfulness.Thank you Noreen, from the bottom of my heart.You have made my day! I love the month of May!

Giant hibiscus

This is the mascot for my " Rumah Sukan ". Red is the theme this year and since my Rumah Sukan is red, we chose a hibiscus. My form six students meticulously stitched and painted it for a week. We spent quite a lot on that flower. It actually looks better than in the picture and the hibiscus was nominated the best mascot and we represented our school at the MSSPs. Unfortunately we didn't win but the students were happy enough! LOL.. But I think it looks great!
